    At the intersection of computational design and biological architecture, a new collaboration between industrial design visionary Ross Lovegrove, creative director Ila Colombo, and computational designer Nolan June Kim brings an exciting advancement in wearable technology: the Unda Loop Series. This revolutionary smart watch strap transcends conventional design, synthesizing natural principles and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

    Through sophisticated computational modeling and state-of-the-art elastomeric 3D printing, the team has created a single-piece structure that achieves unprecedented harmony between flexibility and structural integrity. The design’s distinctive undulating geometry—visible in the inaugural purple color, demonstrates how biological principles can inform and enhance the functional design.

    “What we’re showing isn’t merely a product, but the emergence of a new design philosophy,” explains Ross Lovegrove. “The Unda Loop II demonstrates how computational design can interpret and implement natural principles at the scale of personal accessories, creating something that feels grown rather than manufactured.”

    The Unda Loop Series Technical Innovation:

    • Revolutionary single-piece construction eliminates traditional assembly constraints.
    • Advanced variable density printing enables graduated flexibility zones.
    • Computational fluid dynamics optimization ensures optimal material distribution.
    • Sophisticated surface treatment enhances durability and tactile quality.

    The design pushes the manufacturing process to create complex, continuous structures previously thought impossible to achieve. This approach not only enhances structural performance but also suggests new possibilities for sustainable production methods in luxury accessories.

    “Each curve, each void space in the Unda Loop’s architecture serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose,” notes computational designer Nolan Kim. “The parametric design allows us to fine-tune the structure’s response to movement while maintaining its sculptural integrity.” Adds Ila Colombo.

    Market Impact and Future Developments:

    The initial release highlights the design’s complex geometrical relationships. Future iterations will explore additional materials and colors, with potential developments in adaptive properties responding to environmental conditions and user preferences.

    The Unda Loop series is created to be compatible with current Apple smartwatch models.
