    AI Creative Challenge 5.0

    The fusion of artificial intelligence (AI) and design technologies offers exciting new possibilities for creative expression. The AI Creative Challenge Series aims to explore the synergy between human creativity and AI-powered tools, such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and Dalle3, in the rapidly evolving field of architectural design.

    Description

    We are excited to announce the “AI Creative Challenge 5.0”, a global event that brings architects and designers together to push the boundaries of AI-driven design in architecture. The Challenge is to harness the capabilities of these AI tools to quickly ideate, visualize, and create conceptually impressive architectural designs. Highlighting the importance of human prompting and imagination. AI tools like Midjourney, Stable Difusion, and Dalle3 are essential for this competition because they enable rapid design iteration and visualization, fostering a deeper understanding of AI’s creative potential. By participating in this groundbreaking event, designers will join a dynamic community of professionals dedicated to advancing architectural design through AI-driven innovation.

    Participation Guidelines

    • Get the Challenge Topic
      We will have a 30-minute introductory panel with jury members to announce the challenge topic and design criteria.
    • Join PA Digital Membership to submit your project.
      The challenge will be available for PA Digital Members. If you’re not a Digital member yet? Sign up for our Digital Membership Program to gain access and submit your project.
    • 3 Days Challenge Sprint
      Participants will have 3 days to submit their final design via a PA Submission Portal, including their contact information, design images, and other relevant notes.
    • Jury Review
      The Jury will check all works and pick 3 Winners and 5 Honorable mention projects.
    • Winner Announcement
      Join the winner’s announcement ceremony.

    Submission Requirements

    Please submit your final design via the PA Submission Portal, You will need to submit three different images, one bird’s eye or drone view showing overall design context and two other eye level Perspective views for human’s perspective showing design interventions and human experience aspects . Please ensure all uploaded images are in the required format, as following:

    Submission Format
    Submission requires three main files as part of the competition entry with image prompts and project description: 

    • Project Title and Description.
      Short paragraph up to a 100-word short paragraph describing your motivation and philosophy behind the topic and site selection.
    • First Image: “Bird’s Eye View or Drone View”.
      Name your file as ‘NameSurname_AICC5_Image_1.png’
      Aspect Ratio 1:1
    • Second Image: “ Eye level Perspective.”
      Name your file as ‘NameSurname_AICC5_Image_2.png’
      Aspect Ratio 1:1
    • Third Image: “ Eye level Perspective.”
      Name your file as ‘NameSurname_AICC5_Image_3.png’
      Aspect Ratio 1:1
    • (Optional) “AI-Generated short Video or GIF.”

    Rules

    • The competition is Free for Digital Members to submit their projects.
    • Anybody working with ParametricArchitecture or associated with us is not eligible to participate or receive awards in competitions hosted on ParametricArchitecture. That includes working employees at ParametricArchitecture, jury members, community moderators or contract agencies, and their direct relatives.
    • The participants or teams will be disqualified in case of unethical practices or disregarding other competition rules.
    • Contacting the jury is strictly prohibited.
    • Plagiarism of any idea/design/image/text will be disqualified with a notice.
    • All images should be generated by AI tools such as Midjourney, DALLE-2, Stable Diffusion, etc.

    Evaluation Criteria:

    Will be announced after the introductory panel on May 17, 2024, with the Challenge topic.

    Arthur Mamou-Mani

    Architect CEO at Mamou-Mani ltd.

    Arthur Mamou-Mani – AA dipl, ARB/RIBA FRSA – is a French architect and director of the award-winning practice Mamou-Mani Architects, specializing in a new kind of digitally designed and fabricated architecture. He is a lecturer at the University of Westminster and founded a digital fabrication laboratory called the Fab.Pub, which develops mobile factories to allow people to experiment with large-scale 3D Printers. Since 2016, he is a fellow of the The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce?. He has won the Gold Prize at the American Architecture Prize for the Wooden Wave project installed at BuroHappold Engineering and the RIBAj rising star award in 2017. Arthur gave numerous talks, including the TedX conference in the USA, and has been featured on the cover of the FT, in The New York Times, and in Forbes?. His work has been exhibited at the Sir John Soane Museum, and the Wired Mag Highlight show at the Tate Modern in London. Before founding Mamou-Mani in 2011, he worked with Atelier Jean Nouvel, Zaha Hadid Architects, and Proctor and Matthews Architects.

    Joshua Vermillion

    Associate Professor of Architecture at University of Nevada-Las Vegas

    Joshua Vermillion is a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Architecture at UNLV. Forging a multi-year career in the exploration, development and execution of “Digital Craft,” his efforts in research, pedagogy and practice belong to three primary categories: digital information as medium (computational, parametric and algorithmic design); digital information as material (digital fabrication tools and techniques); and digital information as method (situated technologies, responsive systems, and robotics). Joshua has published and presented his peer- reviewed research and design work worldwide while continuing to experiment with novel design technologies such as AI diffusion models like MidJourney and Stable Diffusion.

    Silvia Rueda

    Immersive Media Specialist XR/VR at Heatherwick Studio | M.Arch, Unreal Fellowship Worldbuilding 2023

    Silvia Rueda is an accomplished architect and immersive media specialist at Heatherwick Studio. She specializes in producing high-quality Unreal Engine animations and walkthroughs for architectural projects from concept to construction. Her expertise extends to creating cutting-edge VR/AR experiences using Unreal Engine, Twinmotion, and Enscape tools. Through these platforms, Silvia has developed a distinctive visual language and aesthetic unique to the studio’s real-time visuals. She holds an MArch Architectural Design degree from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, where she specialized in interactive architectural design. Her work is driven by a passion for exploring the intersections of social collectivism, cultures, and the built environment. Her interdisciplinary interests in film, nature, and photography further enrich this exploration, which she skillfully integrates into the design of virtual world environments. Throughout her career, Silvia has contributed to several award-winning projects, including the design of the Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre in Yorkshire and the landscape design for Google HQ in Mountain View, USA. In these projects, she played a crucial role in interior and landscape design, skillfully producing coherent concepts and detailed Unreal models that elevate the overall project quality and effectiveness.

    Intellectual Property

    All competition materials will be saved in the ParametricArchitecture Competitions files. ParametricArchitecture will have complete rights to publish and promote this material while always crediting the designers. The material could also be used on the platform for merchandising and exhibitions.

    The authors of the projects will retain full rights to their designs for any other purpose and will be asked to grant permission. By submitting a proposal, you grant ParametricArchitecture permission to use the material received in both printed and online publications.

    ParametricArchitecture Competitions will also have the option to slightly modify any of the above-mentioned materials to better adapt them to the various formats and layouts that various publications may have.
