Foster + Partners announced plans to reconstruct Antakya (Hatay, Turkiye) after the February 6, 2023 earthquake. It’s part of a comprehensive plan by the Turkish Design Foundation to rebuild Turkey.
The CTBUH 2024 Europe Conference was held in Istanbul and covered topics like building resiliency, protecting tall buildings, success of dense communities during and after the pandemic.
Environment Minister Murat Kurum said that 24,921 buildings across the region had collapsed or were heavily damaged in the quake, based on assessments of more than 170,000 buildings.
