Mars pavilion is the world’s first robotically built concrete pavilion by Form Found Design in California, United States. Honeycomb Apartments, is a social housing project designed by OFIS Architects located in Izola, Slovenia. This project was the winning entry for a competition to design two tourist housing blocks. There were many reasons the proposal won however, it was for the most part due to its handling of the economic, rational and functional issues, its ratio between gross vs. saleable surface area and the flexibility of its plans. NOVA, FLATIRON HOLIDAY INSTALLATION BY SOFTLAB Nova was commissioned by the Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership through a competition held by the Van Alen Institute. The installation takes its initial inspiration from the traditional gazebo (“I shall gaze”) as a pavilion within in a landscape that looks out in all directions. We used the rich historical context of the Flatiron Plaza site to frame the various landmark buildings and pedestrians through a series of scopes. During the twentieth century, Iranians were rapidly modernized without actually understanding or going through the essential steps of modernity. Certain paradigms of domestic life was lost in this transition. In the capital, the city of Tehran, the city was rebuilt substantially in the span of a century.
