Such time to be alive! Artificial intelligence is making its steps into architecture. Tools such as Midjourney and DALLE-2 are revolutionizing the thought process of talented designers. The emergence of these AI tools is only the beginning of this uprising in the creative industry. The prompt crafting process is in its infancy, and designers are using it to create breathtaking ideas.

As a result, architects are also catching up, and the number of ideas generated with it is increasing. Designers such as Tim Fu, Hassan Ragab, and Arturo Tedeschi are among the pioneers of this AI-generated works. By writing a text with unique techniques, they get mind-blowing designs out of these platforms.

That’s why we are also focused on educating those interested in learning these tools. We held a studio workshop with one of these amazing tutors.

    Midjourney Architecture workshop

In the Midjourney Architecture studio, participants learned some of the secrets of prompt crafting (the ability to control diffusion-model AI) and the intricacies of iterative design evolution.

The first session started with an introduction from Hamid Hasanzadeh about the workshop and PAACADEMY. Then Tim started an introduction about his works and how he got engaged with AI-generated architecture using Midjourney and DALL-E-2. Tim also showed some of his works and explained the evolution process and the workflow for his trending designs on social media.

Following the lecture, the participants were introduced to “Midjourney,” They learned how to set up their accounts and start creating designs immediately. After a few minutes, the participants showed their first AI-generated prompt designs, and the results were mind-blowing. Tim says, ” Prompt craft is only a small part of AI; many other factors go into it.”

Then Tim Fu started to show his workflow to produce a high-quality, construction-feasible design with good detail. At the same time, explain how to prepare a good composition before sharing your works on social media platforms to make them more understandable and realistic. All this was based on a list of criteria he shared with the class to guide them through making architectural AI-generated designs. Before the session ended, he talked about what the participants should pay attention to when using AI-generated tools and how they can get the right image. He talked about the importance of their words in getting us to their image. He shared tips on the options that the way participants write prompts offers them.

Session 2 started with an assessment of the participants’ work. Tim started to make an assessment based on the criteria he had created before. Participants also joined the evaluation with their comments on the Discord channel.

After the evaluation process, he showed how to edit a work created by Midjourney via Rhino and Grasshopper. After modeling and lecturing about Grasshopper and Rhino, he started to talk about how DALLE-2 and Midjourney could be used together to generate an image with the correct proportions and how to add and expand the background using DALLE-2.

If you are curious to dive deeper into Midjourney and AI-generated tools, you still have a chance to join an amazing workshop by Tim Fu; check out the “Midjourney Architecture 2.0 / Studio Tim Fu” workshop by PAACADEMY.
