The Invisible Geometry is a two-week immersive exhibition conceived by Arian Hakimi Design in collaboration with DIM Studio, situated within the Akhavan House setting in Tehran. Rather than the conventions of a traditional gallery, the installation unfolds as an experiential journey that invites visitors into a darkened, contemplative environment.
Here, light becomes the primary medium, shaping space, perception, and movement. Through carefully orchestrated patterns and illumination, the exhibition explores the intersections of light, technology, and human presence.
Invisible Geometry unfolds as a unique exploration of how the form can subtly reveal itself through light, evolving and connecting across disciplines. As visitors move through the installation, their presence influences the shifting patterns and spatial effects, allowing the exhibition to exist as a responsive experience.
Developed through a close collaboration between Arian Hakimi Design and DIM Studio, the exhibit treats pattern as a way of thinking rather than a decorative gesture. For Arian, patterns operate as a design that moves seamlessly from objects, spaces, and architectural systems. This fluid approach allows ideas to shift in scale without losing clarity or intent. The project echoes the belief that thoughtful design can remain coherent across disciplines, evolving naturally from the smallest detail to a spatial experience.
While light remains the exhibition’s central focus, the Invisible Geometry gently weaves in sound and fragrance, enriching the experience with layered sensory depth.
A key design challenge was creating an experience where each visitor carries a handheld light with three color modes, giving them the power to actively shape how the space is perceived.
Persian architecture, with its long tradition of using pattern as a structural and environmental device, serves as a key inspiration for the exhibition. These patterned surfaces interact with light throughout the day, allowing shadow and illumination to define form, rhythm, and verticality without added material.
Shadow Bloom
Shadow Bloom marks the moment when an artistic exploration of light evolves into a functional object, developed alongside The Invisible Geometry exhibition. Designed as a sculptural floor lamp, it translates experimental ideas into a tangible form. The piece explores how patterns can influence perception and how light can become spatial. Responsive to the presence of the body, it blurs the boundary between art and everyday function.
Designed as a portable device for effortless movement between indoor and outdoor settings that adapts from intimate domestic spaces to lobbies, landscapes, and artistic environments. Its dual light sources and adjustable intensity allow it to transition from a gentle, lantern-like glow to a more immersive spatial presence. Customizable patterns, finishes, and colors ensure that each interaction feels distinct, reinforcing the idea that every experience it creates is uniquely its own.
