    Introduction:

In a rapidly transforming world, architecture must respond to shifting social, cultural, and environmental realities. As cities evolve and existing structures demand new life, architects are challenged to rethink not only how we build, but why we build.

Today, architecture extends beyond form; it becomes a tool for regeneration, adaptation, and connection. The most progressive practices are redefining the relationship between people and place, transforming overlooked spaces into meaningful environments that foster community and dialogue.

Ondřej Chybík, co-founder of CHYBIK + KRISTOF, represents a new generation of European architects shaping the future of cities through experimentation and socially engaged design. Known for their adaptive reuse projects and bold yet contextual interventions, the studio’s work bridges heritage and contemporary life.

From revitalizing industrial sites to designing public spaces that invite interaction, their projects challenge conventional boundaries and propose new ways of inhabiting the built environment.

Join us on May 29th at 13:00 GMT as PAACADEMY hosts Ondřej Chybík for an exclusive 45-minute open talk, followed by a 15-minute live Q&A. During the session, he will present key projects and share insights into the ideas, processes, and values that define their practice.

    Speaker:

    Ondrej Chybik

Ondrej Chybik (MAS ETH, ARB, RIBA, *1985, Brno, the Czech Republic) is a founding partner of CHYBIK + KRISTOF Architects (CH+K), a studio specializing in urban transformation and architecture, with offices in London, Prague, Brno, and Bratislava.

Chybik was educated at Brno University of Technology, TU Graz, and ETH Zurich, where his studio’s student work was exhibited at MoMA NYC. A passionate voice in architectural discourse, Ondrej has been a guest lecturer and critic at universities across Europe. He has also been a juror for national and international architectural competitions and was the principal editor of the Czech Architecture Yearbook 2021-22. As City Architect, he works closely with the Mayor of Valmez on strategic urban development across the city. Ondrej is also a founding member of the Urban Land Institute’s national council in the Czech Republic.

CH+K is a recipient of many design accolades and awards. These include the AR Design Vanguard NYC, a Mies van der Rohe Award nomination, and a prestigious 40 Under 40 Award. Only 15 years old, the studio has completed over 1,700 homes within numerous large-scale mixed-use masterplans, as well as cultural landmarks and public spaces. A major recent project is a 5,650 seat multifunctional arena which is currently under construction in Jihlava in the Czech Republic, and is due to complete in the autumn 2025.

In 2023, in collaboration with FRAME, CH+K published its first monograph, ‘Crafting Character’, which was launched at the Barbican Centre in London. The studio’s work has been showcased at major festivals, including the London Festival of Architecture (2024), the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial (2020), and the Venice Architecture Biennale (2025). CH+K has been featured in leading architecture publications, such as Gestalten, Wallpaper, Monocle, and The Wall Street Journal Magazine.
