    About Shajay Bhooshan

Shajay Bhooshan completed his Bachelor of Architecture at the Indraprastha Open University in India and his Master’s degree from the Design Research Laboratory at the Architectural Association of Architecture in London in 2006. He earned an MPhil from the University of Bath in 2016 and is now working on PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.

Shajay has specialized in the conception and production of architecture, from theoretical discourses to manufacturing technologies. As an expert in computation, Shajay also has specialized knowledge in programming, mathematics, especially geometry and optimization methods, and computer-controlled industrial machines, including industrial robotics.

    ZHA Code

Shajay co-founded ZHA CODE, a pioneering computational design research group within Zaha Hadid Architects. ZHA CODE bridges theoretical frameworks and practical applications by exploring digital fabrication, algorithmic design, and advanced manufacturing techniques. Under Shajay’s guidance, the group has pushed the boundaries of parametric design and industrial robotics, integrating geometry, optimization, and programming into cutting-edge architectural solutions. Through this work, Shajay has become a key figure in redefining architecture’s relationship with technology, emphasizing innovation in both conceptual and production processes.

Shajay Bhooshan’s Involvement in Key Projects:

Shajay Bhooshan has been involved in pioneering projects that merge computational design with advanced technology. As a co-founder of ZHCODE, he contributed to the Mathematics and Science Museum, which leverages algorithmic design and structural optimization to create a space that is both visually captivating and intellectually stimulating.

Another standout work, Thallus, is an intricate installation that employs parametric design and robotic 3D printing to produce dynamic, fluid forms. By integrating technologies like game engines into architectural workflows, Shajay has enhanced real-time interactivity and visualization, setting new benchmarks for innovation in contemporary design. His work continues to bridge theoretical ideas with practical execution, redefining architecture’s possibilities.
